La technologie et la politique ont donn\u00e9 des ailes \u00e0 des id\u00e9es autrefois marginales &#8211; et pourtant, ce sont les m\u00eames fantasmes qui circulent depuis des si\u00e8cles, comme le souligne Dorian Lynskey dans un long essai publi\u00e9 dans le <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.technologyreview.com\/2025\/10\/30\/1126457\/its-never-been-easier-to-be-a-conspiracy-theorist\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">MIT Technology Review<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> argumente.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">D\u00e8s 1963, l&rsquo;historien Richard Hofstadter a invent\u00e9 le terme de \u00ab\u00a0style parano\u00efaque\u00a0\u00bb dans la politique am\u00e9ricaine. Il d\u00e9crivait un mode de pens\u00e9e plein d&rsquo;exag\u00e9ration, de m\u00e9fiance et de croyance en de gigantesques complots expliquant tout. A l&rsquo;\u00e9poque, ces th\u00e9ories \u00e9taient marginales. Aujourd&rsquo;hui, elles sont devenues courantes, gr\u00e2ce aux r\u00e9seaux sociaux, \u00e0 la fragmentation du paysage m\u00e9diatique et aux algorithmes qui r\u00e9compensent l&rsquo;indignation. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pourquoi sont-ils si s\u00e9duisants ?<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">D&rsquo;un point de vue psychologique, les r\u00e9cits conspirationnistes donnent un sentiment de contr\u00f4le dans un monde chaotique. Celui qui d\u00e9masque des \u00ab\u00a0plans secrets\u00a0\u00bb se sent important &#8211; un h\u00e9ros dans la lutte contre le mal. Karl Popper a d\u00e9fini ce principe d\u00e8s 1948 : la \u00ab\u00a0th\u00e9orie du complot de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb voit derri\u00e8re chaque \u00e9v\u00e9nement la volont\u00e9 de groupes puissants. Le hasard ? Cela n&rsquo;existe pas. Tout est li\u00e9, tout est planifi\u00e9, rien n&rsquo;est ce qu&rsquo;il semble \u00eatre. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Des chercheurs comme Michael Barkun distinguent trois types de conspirations :<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"1\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Th\u00e9ories des \u00e9v\u00e9nements (ex. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www1.wdr.de\/nachrichten\/trump-jfk-ermordung-kennedy-luther-king-verschwoerung-100.html\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Assassinat de JFK<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">),<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"1\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Th\u00e9ories syst\u00e9miques (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gra.ch\/bildung\/glossar\/illuminati\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Illuminati<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, \u00ab\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.br.de\/nachrichten\/deutschland-welt\/faktenfuchs-die-verschwoerungstheorie-the-great-reset,SY2OK1r\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Great Reset<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00ab\u00a0),<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"1\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" data-aria-posinset=\"3\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">super-conspirations, qui interpr\u00e8tent toute l&rsquo;histoire comme l&rsquo;\u0153uvre de forces obscures (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tagesschau.de\/faktenfinder\/qanon-faq-101.html\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">QAnon<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Plus le r\u00e9cit est grand, plus il semble religieux : lutte entre le bien et le mal, signes secrets, r\u00e9demption par des \u00ab\u00a0\u00e9veill\u00e9s\u00a0\u00bb. Ces sch\u00e9mas sont anciens, de la chasse aux sorci\u00e8res aux mythes antis\u00e9mites en passant par les fantasmes modernes sur les \u00e9lites mondiales. Ce qui est nouveau, c&rsquo;est la vitesse : autrefois, il fallait des livres et des pamphlets, aujourd&rsquo;hui, un post viral et un algorithme suffisent. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">L&rsquo;\u00e8re num\u00e9rique comme acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateur d&rsquo;incendie<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Les m\u00e9dias sociaux et l&rsquo;IA cr\u00e9ent des p\u00e9pini\u00e8res parfaites pour la d\u00e9sinformation. Des plateformes comme TikTok ou X r\u00e9compensent l&rsquo;indignation, les chatbots renforcent les croyances au lieu de les remettre en question. C&rsquo;est ainsi que se cr\u00e9ent des communaut\u00e9s l\u00e2ches et auto-affirm\u00e9es, dans lesquelles les faits ne comptent plus gu\u00e8re. La \u00ab\u00a0v\u00e9rit\u00e9 int\u00e9rieure\u00a0\u00bb remplace la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 &#8211; comme l&rsquo;a jadis fait remarquer cyniquement Joseph Goebbels. R\u00e9sultat : la croyance en la conspiration devient une identit\u00e9, immunis\u00e9e contre toute r\u00e9futation. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pourquoi c&rsquo;est dangereux<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Le conspirationnisme est plus qu&rsquo;un curieux passe-temps. Elle sape les processus d\u00e9mocratiques, radicalise les gens et cr\u00e9e des images hostiles. L&rsquo;id\u00e9e que tout fait partie d&rsquo;un plan gigantesque rend tout compromis impossible. Hofstadter a lanc\u00e9 un avertissement il y a de nombreuses ann\u00e9es : Ceux qui voient le monde comme une lutte entre le bien et le mal absolus n&rsquo;acceptent que la \u00ab\u00a0victoire totale\u00a0\u00bb. Cela explique pourquoi les camps politiques semblent de plus en plus irr\u00e9conciliables. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Des racines historiques &#8211; une dynamique moderne<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Les sch\u00e9mas ne sont pas nouveaux. D\u00e8s le XVIIIe si\u00e8cle, les Illuminati ont \u00e9t\u00e9 diabolis\u00e9s comme \u00e9tant \u00e0 l&rsquo;origine de la R\u00e9volution fran\u00e7aise. Plus tard, des falsifications antis\u00e9mites ont suivi, comme les \u00ab\u00a0Protocoles des Sages de Sion\u00a0\u00bb, un texte qui, bien que d\u00e9masqu\u00e9, a convaincu des millions de personnes. Aujourd&rsquo;hui, les coupables se nomment \u00ab\u00a0\u00e9lites mondiales\u00a0\u00bb ou \u00ab\u00a0\u00c9tat profond\u00a0\u00bb. Les noms changent, la logique reste : Tout est li\u00e9, rien n&rsquo;est d\u00fb au hasard. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Que faire ?<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Nous pouvons identifier les m\u00e9canismes &#8211; et examiner nos propres sch\u00e9mas de pens\u00e9e. Tout n&rsquo;est pas li\u00e9. Tout n&rsquo;est pas planifi\u00e9. Parfois, les choses sont simplement ce qu&rsquo;elles semblent \u00eatre. La pens\u00e9e critique est le meilleur antidote \u00e0 la \u00ab\u00a0parano\u00efa de l&rsquo;\u00e8re num\u00e9rique\u00a0\u00bb. Conna\u00eetre les d\u00e9clencheurs psychologiques, c&rsquo;est aussi reconna\u00eetre les pi\u00e8ges : le besoin de contr\u00f4le, la nostalgie des explications simples.
