text-align: center;\"><strong>The Great Dictator (Der grosse Diktator)<br \/>\n<\/strong>USA 1940, von und mit Charlie Chaplin<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spoiler-Alert<\/strong><br \/>\nDie letzten Tage des Ersten Weltkriegs: Ein verwundeter Kampfpilot bittet den Soldaten, der ihm das Leben rettet, ihm bei seiner Mission zu helfen und bei der \u00dcberbringung kriegsentscheidender Dokumente zu begleiten. Ihr Flugzeug st\u00fcrzt aber mit leerem Tank ab, und Tomanien verliert den Krieg.<\/p>\n<p>Zwanzig Jahre sp\u00e4ter kehrt der Soldat nach langem Koma und mit totalem Ged\u00e4chtnisverlust an seinen Arbeitsort zur\u00fcck, in seinen Coiffeursalon im j\u00fcdischen Ghetto. Sein Doppelg\u00e4nger, Adenoid Hynkel, ist inzwischen mit dem Emblem des Doppelkreuzes Diktator von Tomanien geworden. Der Kampfpilot, Schultz, ist zum Kommandanten des j\u00fcdischen Ghettos aufgestiegen. Dessen Bewohnerinnen und Bewohner werden von \u00abStorm Troopers\u00bb terrorisiert. Der Coiffeur verliebt sich in die Nachbarin Hannah, gemeinsam leisten beide Widerstand.<\/p>\n<p>Als ein j\u00fcdischer Bankier Hynkel keine weiteren Kredite gew\u00e4hren will, ordnet dieser Vergeltungsmassnahmen gegen die j\u00fcdische Bev\u00f6lkerung an. Schultz lehnt dies ab und flieht ins Ghetto. Dort wird er zusammen mit dem Coiffeur verhaftet. Hannah und ihre Familie schaffen es, ins benachbarte Osterlich zu fl\u00fcchten. Osterlich bleibt aber nicht sicher. Hynkel l\u00e4dt den \u00abBrother Dictator\u00bb Benzino Napoloni aus Bacteria zu einem Staatsbesuch ein, um zu kl\u00e4ren, wer das Nachbarland erobern darf. Anschliessend l\u00e4sst Hynkel seine Armee in Osterlich einmarschieren.<\/p>\n<p>Gleichzeitig k\u00f6nnen Schultz und der Coiffeur in gestohlenen Uniformen nach Osterlich fl\u00fcchten. Der Coiffeur wird von den tomanischen Invasoren mit seinem Doppelg\u00e4nger Hynkel verwechselt und an einer grossen Milit\u00e4rparade vor das Mikrofon gestellt. Nach der Einleitung mit \u00abI&rsquo;m sorry but I don&rsquo;t want to be an emperor\u00bb h\u00e4lt er ein flammendes Pl\u00e4doyer f\u00fcr Menschlichkeit, Freiheit und Demokratie und wendet sich darin auch direkt an Hannah. Hynkel wird auf der Entenjagd mit dem geflohenen Coiffeur verwechselt und verhaftet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sehenswert f\u00fcr<\/strong><br \/>\nAngesichts der Gr\u00e4ueltaten der Nazis ist eine Hitler-Kom\u00f6die eine Gratwanderung mit grosser Absturzgefahr. Chaplin selber schrieb in seiner Autobiographie zwei Jahrzehnte sp\u00e4ter, er h\u00e4tte den Film nicht machen k\u00f6nnen, wenn er um das Ausmass des Schreckens der Konzentrationslager gewusst h\u00e4tte.<br \/>\nUnabh\u00e4ngig vom historischen Ursprung und Fragezeichen zur Ad\u00e4quatheit im Entstehungskontext ist Chaplins erster Tonfilm eine einmalige Verbindung von Slapstick, humanit\u00e4rem Pathos und Politik. Und wenn eine grosse Demokratie eine Figur mit einem Putschversuch im Lebenslauf wieder als Staats- und Regierungschef installiert und aus der Inaugurationsfeier Bilder von r\u00f6mischen Gr\u00fcssen um die Welt gehen, ist Humor als Waffe gegen Tyrannen wohl aktueller denn je.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Siegreiche Strategie<\/strong><br \/>\nInnerhalb des Films setzt sich die Menschlichkeit eher dank Gl\u00fcck und Zufall als mit einer Strategie durch. Im historischen Kontext ist Chaplins erster Tonfilm ein Beitrag zum Kampf gegen den Faschismus durch die Demontage seines F\u00fchrungspersonals mit den Mitteln der Kom\u00f6die: \u00abHitler must be laughed at\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Erfolglose Strategie<\/strong><br \/>\nIm Film scheitert Adenoid Hynkel daran, dass er einen Doppelg\u00e4nger hat, der im entscheidenden Moment in einer gestohlenen Uniform eher wie ein Diktator aussieht als er selbst in seinem Jagdkost\u00fcm. Wo Macht eine leere Inszenierung ohne inhaltliche Legitimation ist, geht sie verloren, sobald die Insignien vertauscht werden. Auf der Metaebene nimmt Chaplin der faschistischen Grossspurigkeit ihre Durchschlagskraft, indem er sie als Kaschierung enormer Unsicherheit entlarvt.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wie wird Politik dargestellt?<\/strong><br \/>\nDem politischen Personal geht es nur um die eigene Gr\u00f6sse. Hynkels Reden sind unverst\u00e4ndliches Kauderwelsch, bez\u00fcglich Tonalit\u00e4t und K\u00f6rpersprache perfekt parodiert, auf der Basis von Leni Riefenstahls \u00abTriumph des Willens\u00bb einstudiert (bei dessen erster Sichtung Chaplin lauthals aufgelacht haben soll). Hofiert wird er von Kriegsminister Herring und Innenminister Garbitsch, devoten Schmeichlern, die in Tr\u00e4nen der R\u00fchrung ausbrechen, wenn Hynkel sie lobt, die sich aber auch gnadenlos dem\u00fctigen lassen. In freien Minuten posiert der Diktator synchron f\u00fcr ein Gem\u00e4lde und eine B\u00fcste und spielt mit einem riesigen Globus Weltherrscher.<\/p>\n<p>Neurotisch ist auch Hynkels Verhalten gegen\u00fcber seinem Diktatorenfreund Napoloni: Hynkel getraut sich nicht, Napolonis Anruf entgegenzunehmen, und reagiert zugleich eingesch\u00fcchtert und aggressiv, als Napoloni ihm bei gemeinsamen \u00f6ffentlichen Auftritten die Show stiehlt. Die beiden verwickeln einander laufend in absurde Auseinandersetzungen, die \u00fcber die Gr\u00f6sse von Tischen und die H\u00f6he von St\u00fchlen ausgetragen werden. Ihr Machtkampf beinhaltet auch eine physische Schlacht am Buffet, in der sich die beiden M\u00e4nner mit W\u00fcrsten und Spaghettisch\u00fcsseln bewerfen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zitat<\/strong><br \/>\n\u00abYou the people have the power, the power to create machines, the power to create happiness. You the people have the power to make life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure. Then in the name of democracy let&rsquo;s use that power. \u00a0Let us all unite.
